2015 Our RUMC Bicentennial Year
2015 marks the 200th year of Rootstown United Methodist Church's existence. To celebrate, the Bicentennial Committee has planned various activities.
Beginning the first week of January 2015, our bulletins will include inserts that will trace the beginnings of Methodism through our own church's 200 year history. They were originally compiled in 1984 by David Armentrout, who will add in our last 30 years.
Pastor Jared will conduct a few Throw-back Sundays, one with an 1836 style of worship (our Fellowship Hall, the original church building, was built in 1836), one with an early 1900's style of worship (our stained glass windows and organ were dedicated then), and one with an 1980's style of worship.
We are also planning a huge Memorial Day parade display of three parts - RUMC Past, RUMC Present, and RUMC Future. We will need lots of people to march as well as a horse and 2-3 convertibles to carry pastors past and present.
