 ANNOUNCEMENTS AND EVENTS

POLICY ON IN-PERSON WORSHIP
RUMC will continue to meet while the county’s COVID color code is Red. Should Portage County's COVID color code would turn to purple during the week, the upcoming Sunday would be the last Sunday in person until the color code returns to red. In person worship also means that Sunday School is available for ages Pre-K through Adults. If you have any questions about whether or not there is in-person worship, you can call the office (330-325-1426) and the recording will let you know if we are worshiping inside.

SUMMER CAMPS
This summer, kids need the opportunity to be outside in God’s creation, connecting with each other in safe ways, building a relationship with God and having fun. After lots of prayer, the East Ohio Camps leadership team has decided to open the summer camps at Aldersgate, Asbury, and Wanake for 2021. There will be limited space – registration is open now! Summer Camp open houses are available for each camp as well so you can see the camp and ask questions:
Camp Wanake – April 10 from 2 – 5 pm
Camp Aldersgate – April 18 from 2 – 5 pm
Camp Asbury – April 25 from 2 – 5 pm
For more information, visit www.eocsummercamps.org

RECOVERY HOUSEING AND BEATING ADDICTION
RUMC is partnering with Bike, Hope, Love and Hope Town Recovery Housing to establish a recovery house in Portage County. A recovery house is a place addicts can live, work, and recover in a safe environment. This increases the likelihood of long term recovery substantially. Please consider helping furnish this recovery house. For a list of items, visit this link: https://app.smartsheet.com/b/publish?EQBCT=97d74dbf66ef466b8382ba7e07f7d81f
For more information, contact Pastor Don Richards (dtailwind@aol.com)

OUTDOOR RUMMAGE and BAKE SALE!
Set for Friday, April 23 and Saturday, April 24. Rain dates are also scheduled, please pray we will not need them! More information too come closer to the date about item drop off.

UPLIFT - Empowering people by providing essential items.
Galatians 6:2 says," Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ."

During this time of COVID, many families are finding themselves in need of basic items. Toothbrushes, deodorant, and shampoo are things we each use every day and are essential to looking and feeling our best. Often, families in need cannot come by these items easily. Additionally, these items are overlooked when collecting donations for shelters and food banks. Please take the time to look over this list and decide if and how you can help!

Items include:
Socks -- all sizes for all ages from kids to adults
Underwear - all sizes for all ages from kids to adults
Bras - all sizes for women and teens
Deodorant - all kinds for men, women, and teens
Shampoo and Conditioner - all kinds for all ages
Body Wash - all kinds for all ages
Diapers and Pull ups - all sizes
Baby Wipes - any kind
Sanitary Napkins - for women & teens
Toothbrushes - all kinds for all ages
Toothpaste - all kinds for all ages
Razors - for men, women, teens
Shaving Cream
Towels & Wash Cloths
Soap - Hand and Dish soap
Laundry Detergent.

Donations can be brought to the office Monday or Wednesday - Friday from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm or on Sunday, when we meet for Sunday school and worship, between 9 am and 12 pm. Please contact the office with any questions!

RUMC HAS A NEW EMAIL
We have had a couple issues with our sbcglobal email account and are switching to gmail! The new email address is rootstownumc44@gmail.com. Emails to the sbcglobal account are being forwarded to this address.

FOOD BACKPACKS
We are meeting at CBC on Fridays at 9 am to pack food backpacks for kids in need at Rootstown schools. The next Fridays we will meet are: Feb 5, Feb 19, March 5, and March 19.

OFFERING ENVELOPES ARE AVAILABLE
We have envelopes for the 2021 year for anyone who would like them! You can pick them in the foyer by the sanctuary,  during office hours, or we can arrange to have them delivered to you! There is no sign up sheet - if you take a box you have the option to identify yourself or give anonymously. Please let the office know if you would like some envelopes brought to you!

ONLINE GIVING
During the pandemic we have been blessed with your continued giving. A reminder that there are many ways to do so! Check out the Giving page on our website for more information!

APOSTLES BUILD - HABITAT BUILD DAY
RUMC's next build day will be Feb 27, 2021! We will be working on flooring! Please let the office know if you are planning on attending. There is a max of 8 people right now due to COVID restrictions. Please bring your own lunch, water, safety glasses, and work gloves if possible.

We are almost done with the house! Thank you to everyone who has donated their time, prayer, and money to this project! Overall, our church has raised $13,000 toward this house!

ADOPT-A-TEACHER (OR STAFF MEMBER!)
Rootstown UMC is once again participating in Adopt-a-Teacher with Rootstown Schools to pray for and encourage teachers and staff members throughout the school year. This year, due to COVID, we will be focusing our encouragement through emails and cards instead of larger gifts.

NURTURE & CARE – ASSISTANCE
If you, or someone you know, have a need for occasional help cleaning the house, picking up groceries or other items, etc., please let the office know! We have people willing to help.

PRAYER REQUEST?
Please let us know how we can pray for you! Send an email to rootstownumc44@gmail.com or call the church office at 330-325-1426.
